Do You Have Abnormal Bowel Movements?

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Okay, so talking about abnormal bowel movements is not something most want to do, and its not something many even like to think about.

However, what you don’t know about your bowel movements is that things that seem off may indicate something very serious is going on within your body. Irregularities may signal a medical condition, a disease, or something as simple as a problem with a balanced diet.

It’s not pleasant, but you do have to take notice of these things as they can be strong clues that something is going on. If you have children, you should be trying your best to keep an eye on things for them as well.

There is one type of abnormal bowel movements that should send you straight to the doctor.

If you notice that things are coming out as if they are being squeezed, that can indicate a huge problem. If your BM look more like the size of a pencil rather than what you are used to, that can mean you have something obstructing your colon or your large intestines. That can mean things like cancer, or other serious issues that do need to be addressed right away.

You may also have problems with color when it comes to abnormal bowel movements. If you notice things have gotten dark, that may mean that you have blood in your stool.

Though this can be harmless, it is probably a problem if it happens more than a few times. That would also mean you have to get to your doctor. On the flip side, if your abnormal bowel movements are just lighter than usual, that could just be your diet. Watch things closely however, for other health signs that something may not be right.

You may also find that your abnormal bowel movements are not that big of a deal and can easily be corrected.

If you are on a high protein diet, you may be cutting way back on carbs. When you do that, your bowels will not move as fast. They can be dark and dry as well. You can turn this around with a fiber supplement that can keep things moving, so to speak.

You may also notice that you abnormal bowel movements are coming fast and often. This can mean you have a flu, or that you possibly have something like Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Neither is too serious in the long run, but they do require some action on your part.

What to Look for in Colon Cleanse Recipes

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The choices we have sometimes do more harm than good. Day in and day out, we are bombarded with all sorts of products and services that promise to make life easier and better for us, but only end up confusing us with insignificant details.
This happens to various facets of our life, including health care where things like looking for the best colon cleanse recipes can present a heavy burden.

There are indeed many ways of cleaning our colon, as suggested by countless websites, books and magazine articles. Some ingredients come highly recommended for those who are just starting this healthy habit.

As a guide to first-timers, listed here are important ingredients. Seeing any of these in a recipe is a tip of its effectiveness.

For its rich dietary fiber content, psyllium husk powder is one of the most common ingredients of colon cleanse recipes. Psyllium is responsible for helping one discharge accumulated waste in the large intestines as well as for regulation bowel movement. Its cholesterol lowering capability is considered a very big plus.

Probiotics is another essential element of a cleansing recipe. This provides “good” bacteria to maintain regular bowel movement, as well as replaces the ones which have been eliminated because of antibiotics and illness.

Lemon juice or apple cider vinegar, on the other hand, have alkaline properties that flushes out toxins from the body as well as wastes. Apple cider vinegar should be unfiltered because this contains special enzymes we need to clean up our large intestine.

To make colon cleansing more effective, avoid unhealthy diets, drink plenty of water, and start hitting the gym. It is important to know that exercise triggers the colon to eliminate accumulated waste.
